Phoenix is referred to as Valley of the Sun because of the area’s high temperatures, year-round sunshine, and light rainfall. I was driving through the city’s desert-hot streets and on the side of the road, in a field of green cacti and all its prickly bloom, there laid a single pink flower. Several species of cacti flowers dress the southwest lands, so I don’t know what type it was, but she’s a beauty nonetheless.
Nearby, there was a cactus that stood at least fifteen feet tall. I remember hearing that certain types of cacti grow up to sixty feet tall and weigh thousands of pounds. Nature is an incredible thing, isn’t it?
