Spirulina Smoothie

I skipped my morning shot of espresso and cranked up my Hawaiian spirulina smoothie to reflect my morning mood. I borrowed some fun facts about Spirulina from Wellness Mama. Spirulina, a substance that’s actually a cyanobacteria (a natural “algae”) is considered to be the “most nutrient dense food on the planet.” It boasts its fair share of health promoting properties, and it is rich in Chlorophyll, and like plants, gets its energy from the sun. It’s incredibly high in protein, natural iron content and essential amino acids, and is a good source of antioxidants, B-vitamins and other nutrients. It also contains vitamins C, D, A and E, and is a good source of potassium, calcium, chromium, copper, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, sodium and zinc.

Spirulina gets a lot of attention for its anti-inflammatory properties, especially when taken with other quality Omega-3 supplements. It may also help balance blood sugar, remove heavy metals, has powerful antioxidants, and muscle and endurance benefits. It adds a great flavor, too. My smoothie was sweet, refreshing, and full of divine energy. It’s a pleasant way to start the day. I found myself dancing in the kitchen. Try it for yourself!

1 banana

1 peach

1/2 mango

2 pineapple slices (approx. 1/2 inch. thick)

1 cup almond milk

1 tsp. spirulina

goji berries

It’s pretty isn’t it?!
