I love birthdays and I take them very seriously. I’ve heard several debates between my mystic friends over whether there are really 12 astrological signs. According to some mystics, there are actually 13.
Side-Note: Wouldn’t our sign change every year if there were 13, assuming that the calendar stayed the same?
Anyhow, there is a very good reason behind the birthday celebration or what I like to call “Personal New Year.” It’s the prime opportunity to reflect on where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re going. It’s a major time to figure out who we are, and changes we hope to make. It’s about growth and understanding. It’s about living.
It is said that the positions of planets at the very moment you’re born (and on every anniversary of your birth) determines the entire course of your next year. If that is the truth then I can only hope that everything is aligned. Regardless, I will spend my days living in the best way I possibly can. I will remain surrounded by positive energy as the new cycle begins.
To celebrate this year, I had a birthday dinner at Chaya, an Asian-fusion fare & sushi restaurant in Venice Beach. Sushi is my absolute favorite cuisine, and with the flowers and balloons everyone brought, I was a happy girl.
